Pregnancy tests and analysis
When I knew that I am pregnant, at once I bought a thick book – “In expectation of the child”, and have started to study it with eager. I was shocked since the first pages of this book, there are a huge list of tests and examinations that American females do! I have shared new knowledge with the gynecologist and her reaction shocked me even more.
Symbolically all tests can be divided into 3 groups:
- First group – it is a standard suite that mandatory for each pregnant who are registered in the female’s consultation:
* the urine and blood basic test and blood biochemical analysis;
* the HIV blood test and WR (Wasserman reaction);
* the blood analysis on a hepatitis B and C.
- The second group – special tests, that geneticist, immunologist and endocrinologist do. These tests are required for females with a number of diseases or poor heredity.
- The third group – complicated tests such as Doppler test and cardiotocography. These tests are very desirable, but unfortunately and very often it depends on technical possibilities of female consultation centre, or the qualification of the gynecologist and persistence of the patient.

On my question, that I ask the doctor if my husband need to pass the blood test, he said that it is nonsense.
And when I asked to pass the clamidiosis test, that now days are widely-spread, the doctor answers: “- if you wish, go and pass it in the venereal disease clinic!” and for the ultrasound scanning, the doctor said that sonography is 20th week test, and that it is stupid to do it now. Why to do unnecessary examinations? But I am sure that the test can not be unnecessary, because we talk about the most important part of life of female. The future mom has full right to know everything about fetus health condition and her health.
Thanks God I have a healthy son. During all pregnancy period I took only 1 test, not usual test in the endocrinological clinic. But my classmate the pregnancy ends with miscarriage. It was 6 years ago, when ultrasonic examination was not mandatory monitoring for future moms. Irene has severe toxicosis since the second part of pregnancy, and she feels something wrong going on, and at that time she couldn’t persuade the doctor to do the ultrasonic examination once again. The baby born not to be cured, with pathology and the baby died after few days.
The future mums, as a rule, are mistrustful enough, and frequentlee their fears arise for no reason. But if there is at least one occasion to anxiety, it is better to hand over the appropriate analysis. First you will calm down, and the second – exclude of any probable complication. Certainly, it is not necessary to go too far and pass any expensive test only because your friend or known person did it. Many examinations are difficult enough, and the main thing is that it can harmfull for the fetus.
